Wild Rice Questions
What is the difference between Grade A and Soup Grade wild rice?
Grade A is our longest grain — clean, consistent, and ideal for dishes where the rice is the star. Soup Grade is slightly smaller and broken, perfect for soups, stews, and casseroles where it blends into the dish.
What is Wood Parched wild rice?
Wood Parched wild rice is traditionally dried over an open wood fire rather than mechanically processed. It has a deeper, smokier flavor and a darker color. It is one of the most traditional ways wild rice has been prepared in the north for generations.
What is Hand Harvested wild rice?
Hand Harvested wild rice is gathered by canoe using traditional knocker sticks — the same method used for centuries on northern lakes. It is minimally processed, naturally dried, and represents the purest form of wild rice available.
What is Canadian Jumbo Organic wild rice?
Our Canadian Jumbo Organic is certified organic wild rice from northern Canada featuring an extra large kernel size. It is ideal for dishes where you want a bold, hearty grain with a rich nutty flavor.
Is your wild rice gluten free?
Yes — all of our wild rice products are naturally gluten free. The Pancake and Waffle Mix contains wheat and is not gluten free.
Is your wild rice non-GMO?
Yes — naturally and always. Wild rice does not exist in a GMO form.
How do I cook wild rice?
Rinse your rice, then combine 1 cup wild rice with 3 cups water or broth in a pot. Bring to a boil, reduce to a low simmer, cover and cook 45 to 55 minutes until the grains open and curl. Drain any excess liquid, fluff with a fork and let rest 5 minutes before serving.
How long does wild rice keep?
Stored in a cool dry place, unopened wild rice will keep up to one year. Once opened, store in an airtight container and use within 6 months for best flavor.
About Our Products
Where does your wild rice come from?
Our wild rice comes from Minnesota and Canada — grown and harvested from clean northern lakes and paddies. Every bag is stocked and packed by hand right here, not in a warehouse across the country.
Do you sell organic wild rice?
Yes — our Canadian Jumbo Organic Wild Rice is certified organic. Our Minnesota varieties are non-GMO and naturally grown but not certified organic.
What is the 1% clean water pledge?
We donate 1% of every sale to clean water protection initiatives focused on the northern lakes and rivers we fish, hunt, and paddle. The water that gives us wild rice deserves to be protected for the next generation.
