FAQ

What does wood parched mean?
After harvesting, the wild rice is slowly fire-roasted over an open wood flame. This traditional parching process dries the rice, loosens the hull, and gives it a deeper, smokier flavor that you cannot get from standard cultivated or store bought wild rice.

How is wood parched different from your other wild rice?
Our Grade A and Soup Grade are cultivated and dried using modern methods. Wood Parched goes through a traditional open flame roasting process that changes the flavor profile entirely — darker, smokier, and richer. Same great Minnesota wild rice, completely different eating experience.

How do I cook it?
Rinse first. Combine 1 cup rice with 3 cups water or broth. Bring to a boil, reduce heat, cover and simmer 15-25 minutes until kernels open. Drain excess liquid.

How much does 1 lb make?
Approximately 3 cups cooked — feeds 6-8 as a side dish.

Is this the same as grocery store wild rice?
No. Most grocery store wild rice is grown in California with no traditional processing. Ours is paddy grown in clean northern Minnesota waters and wood parched the traditional way.

How do I store it?
Cool dry place in an airtight container. Dry rice keeps two years. Cooked keeps one week refrigerated.

Do you offer larger sizes?
Yes — available in 1 lb and 5 lb bags.

How fast does it ship?
Ships within 1-2 business days. Flat rate $7 shipping on orders under $60. Free shipping on orders over $60.
